Black Lives Matter. (P.1)

Updated: Jun 2, 2020

[I went to the protest this afternoon...I know that may upset some of my family out of concern for my safety but I needed to do this.

It was interesting being down there today and after what I witnessed, I’m not sure what to feel or how to express it. The protests started off peaceful today and then took a strange turn in a way that seemed sort of unnecessary. I stand with my people and for my people and I want our allies to continue to help raise our voices but I just want to make sure we are fighting strategically. Even as I’m writing this caption, I hear police sirens in the distance and I’m only praying that tonight doesn’t lead us in to a morning of more bad news. We are angry but that doesn’t mean we can not be smart. We are hurt but that does not mean we can not be strong. We are unheard but that does not mean we can not be wise with our words and with our actions in moments like these. So I ask everyone to please be safe if you’re going out there, we want you to all come back home!
